Features:
GDX-1000
Dimensions: Width 220mm, Height 160mm, Depth 310mm.

Rear Panel Introduction
* Voltage Adjustment: The output voltage can be reduced by 10V or 20V based on user requirements.
* Users can select whether to lower the voltage using the Select switch.

Output Modes
* The output can operate in either balanced or unbalanced mode.
* The Voltage Balance switch on the rear panel allows users to toggle between balanced and unbalanced modes.

Characteristics of Balanced Output:
A. Elimination of Transformer-Induced Interference: Interference caused by induced electricity from the isolation transformer itself or during power transmission is eliminated by grounding the midpoint of the transformer output.
B. Reduction of Device-Generated Interference: Interference caused by the charging and discharging of capacitors and inductors within the user's equipment, or operational interference (similar to how speaker movement generates induced electricity), is eliminated through the ground wire of the balanced output.
C. Stable Voltage and Noise Suppression: By grounding the midpoint of the balanced output, both output lines maintain a stable voltage of 110V relative to the ground. This stabilizes the voltage difference and effectively suppresses ground noise.

Attention:
Some users have asked whether the balanced isolation transformer can eliminate mains interference. We strictly adhere to professional ethics and do not mislead consumers! The elimination of mains interference is determined solely by the isolation transformer itself and is not related to whether the output is balanced or unbalanced. The capability to suppress interference depends entirely on the quality and design of the isolation transformer. When measured with instruments, the interference levels for both balanced and unbalanced outputs are the same.

Why EI Transformers Have an Advantage Over Toroidal Transformers in Audio Isolation Power Supplies:
1. Stronger Anti-Interference Capability:
When exposed to the same mains interference, an EI transformer significantly reduces the output interference after processing. Toroidal transformers, on the other hand, perform poorly, with output interference levels several times higher (this can be tested using LHY Audio's wide-frequency interference measuring instrument).

2. Better Resistance to DC Interference:
EI transformers have strong resistance to DC interference, while toroidal transformers are weak in this aspect. Although transformers block DC and pass AC, why do we still need to add a DC blocking board? This is because toroidal transformers are prone to magnetic saturation. Under strong interference, they may hum lightly or, in severe cases, enter saturation, reducing output power or even blowing fuses. Therefore, toroidal transformers require a DC blocking board, which indicates their poor resistance to DC interference. However, the DC blocking circuit significantly increases input impedance, negatively impacting sound quality. EI transformers, with their partially open iron cores and air gaps in the magnetic path, have a much higher magnetic flux tolerance. They do not enter saturation even when current increases, ensuring stable performance.

3. Extremely Low Self-Power Consumption:
High-quality EI transformers have extremely low self-power consumption, comparable to toroidal transformers. For example, some EI transformers consume only 5.2W, including backlighting, which is no higher than that of toroidal transformers.

4. Negative Effects of Adding a DC Blocking Module to Toroidal Transformers:
A. Increased Internal Resistance and Voltage Drop: Adding a DC blocking module to the primary side of a toroidal transformer increases internal resistance and causes a voltage drop (e.g., 0.8V per diode in the bridge rectifier).
B. Bottleneck Effect: The DC blocking module creates a bottleneck, rendering any upgrades to the wall wiring meaningless, as the module limits the current flow.
C. Sound Quality Degradation: The current passing through the nonlinear components (diodes) degrades sound quality. Even high-quality cables cannot compensate for this bottleneck.

Experiment:
If you own a toroidal isolation transformer, try bypassing the DC blocking board. The sound will become more relaxed, natural, and open. However, stronger interference will cause the transformer to hum.

Although EI Transformers Excel in Anti-Interference Performance, They Come at a Cost:
* Larger Size and Higher Material Costs: For the same power rating, EI transformers require a larger iron core and more winding material, significantly increasing material costs. As a result, EI transformers are much more expensive to produce compared to toroidal transformers.
* Cost Efficiency of Toroidal Transformers: Toroidal transformers benefit from the widespread use of automated winding machines, which greatly reduce manufacturing costs. Additionally, they use less material, making them far more cost-effective. For consumer products, toroidal transformers are widely used because their finished product price is often lower than the cost of just the iron core and copper wire required for an EI transformer.
* Complexity and Rarity of High-Power EI Transformers: Due to the complex manufacturing process and the much higher material costs of EI transformers, they are rarely used in high-power isolation transformer power supplies. In fact, some EI transformers for Western Electric can now cost tens of thousands of RMB!
